I tried a password manager and it actually made things harder for me
I set up a popular password manager about three months ago to be more secure. The problem was, it kept locking me out of my own accounts on my phone when I was offline, like at the doctor's office trying to check my email. I learned that the 'set it and forget it' advice doesn't work if you don't have a solid backup login method for the manager itself. Has anyone else run into this and found a good way to handle it?

Yeah, I had the exact same thing happen at my dentist's office last month. I needed to pull up my insurance info from my email and my password manager just wouldn't open because their wifi was down. I mean, it's kind of funny now but I was just standing there like an idiot. I ended up having to use the "forgot password" link on my phone, which sort of defeats the whole point. I keep a printed list of my main email and bank passwords in my desk at home now as a backup, which feels wrong but it works.

It's like we're all building our own little paper life rafts.
