Unpopular opinion: saving passwords in your browser is safer than that little notebook in your glovebox
I keep seeing folks in truck stop wifi threads say never save passwords in Chrome or Edge, but I think that advice is backwards for most people. Last month at a TA in Oklahoma City I watched a guy spend 15 minutes digging through a paper notebook for his bank login, and that notebook was just sitting on the dash. A saved password in your browser is encrypted and tied to your device, while a paper list can be read by anyone who walks by your rig. I know some of you will say what if someone steals the laptop, and fair point, but you can lock it with a PIN and remote wipe it. A notebook has no remote wipe, and I have seen two stolen in parking lots in the last 6 months. If you have a better system for keeping track of logins on the road I would honestly like to hear it.
Man, my buddy lost his whole notebook at a Loves outside Amarillo and spent two weeks resetting every single account he had. At least with saved passwords you can just change them from your phone if the laptop walks off.
