Vent: My local coffee shop's free Wi-Fi has no login page

That lets others spy on your activity. A VPN keeps your connection safe.

Wait, are people really that worried about coffee shop Wi-Fi? Most of us just check social media or read news, nothing super private. Unless you're doing online banking, the risk feels pretty low. I get being careful, but a VPN seems like overkill for grabbing a latte. Plus, how many hackers are actually hanging out at local cafes?

But have you considered how easy it is to snoop on unencrypted traffic? In my experience, tools that capture data on public Wi-Fi are pretty common now. Even checking social media can expose your login details if the site doesn't use full encryption. Your mileage may vary, but I'd rather be safe.

Even casual browsing leaks stuff Mason doesn't realize.
