Wish I hadn't laughed off two-factor authentication back in 2016
I used to think 2FA was just extra hassle for no real gain. Then my cousin in Austin got his email account hijacked through a simple password leak on some old forum he used. Watching him spend three days untangling his bank alerts and social media accounts made me reconsider real quick. Has anyone else had a close call that convinced them to try something they were dead set against?

What if all that time he spent fixing things actually taught him more about staying safe online than 2FA ever could? I mean, a password manager and being careful where you log in would stop most of this without the daily hassle of typing codes. Maybe the real lesson is that being too locked down just makes you lazy about the basics that actually matter.

Watching him spend three days untangling his bank alerts" was enough to make me switch over that same week.
