A comment about my color palette made me rethink everything

Honestly, someone said my fantasy landscapes all used the same three blues and greens, so I started limiting myself to a 5-color palette per piece. Has anyone else gotten a piece of feedback that totally shifted your process?

Oh man, that hits home. I used to draw everyone with the same exact nose, just a tiny little triangle. Someone finally asked if all my characters were secretly related. Now I spend way too much time looking at nose reference photos, it's a whole thing.

Seriously though, is it that big a deal? I see artists with a whole cast of characters who all share the same eyes or mouth shape, and it just becomes their style. Like, maybe all your people are just from the same town with great cheekbones. Spending hours on nose refs sounds like a fast track to never finishing a drawing.
