Unpopular opinion: I thought digital painting was just a mouse and a filter

Honestly, I was convinced digital art was basically cheating until my friend, who does concept art, sat me down in front of her Wacom Cintiq last year. She showed me her process for a single character portrait, which took her over 40 hours from sketch to final. Ngl, seeing her manually blend colors and build up texture with custom brushes in Procreate changed my whole view. It's not a button you press; it's a whole skill set with its own tools. Has anyone else had their mind changed about a specific part of digital art like that?

Oh man, I used to totally think the same thing! I figured it was all just clicking "make art good" in some menu. Then I tried to draw a simple cartoon dog with a tablet pen and it looked like a melted potato. That humbled me real fast, seeing how much control and practice it actually takes. It's a whole different kind of hard.

My cousin makes decent digital art after just three months of practice.

Right, like where's the undo button for your own hand?
