Why does nobody talk about how much I used to overspend on Facebook ads?
I used to throw $500 a month at boosted posts without any targeting or tracking (you know, just hoping for the best), but after 6 months of terrible return I switched to retargeting email lists, and now my cost per conversion dropped from $12 to under $3 - has anyone else found a specific audience segment that actually worked for them?

Yeah interest targeting is solid if your list is tiny. What niche you in?

Huh, I actually had the opposite experience. Boosted posts with tight audience targeting worked way better for me than email retargeting ever did. I was getting cost per conversions around $4 with interest-based targeting on my best segments, but when I tried retargeting my email list, it jumped to almost $9 and the volume just wasn't there. Different niches probably respond totally differently to this stuff though.

Honestly wonder if Facebook just likes messing with us for sport. Like here I thought I was being smart by dumping cash into boosted posts with zero targeting, basically just lighting money on fire for six months. Then I switch to retargeting email lists and suddenly my cost per conversion drops like a rock. Makes you think maybe the algorithm just rewards you for doing the opposite of whatever you were doing before. You probably could've thrown darts at a board to pick audience segments and gotten better results than my first attempts.
