Coworking spaces vs coffee shops back in 2015 vs now
I remember when I first started nomading in 2015, I'd just pick a random coffee shop in Chiang Mai and camp there for hours buying one $2 latte. Now I pay $150 a month for a proper coworking desk, and honestly the difference is huge. The internet alone makes it worth it, I lost count how many times I got kicked off café wifi right in the middle of a client call. Does anyone else feel like coffee shop nomading just isn't practical anymore, or am I just getting old and grumpy?

Ngl you mentioned "Chiang Mai" but that's more of a 2013-2014 thing. By 2015 most of us had already moved on to Bali or Lisbon for the better infrastructure.

Huh I always thought Chiang Mai was like the OG digital nomad spot that everyone still hyped up. Saw so many blog posts from 2017 saying it was the best place to save money and focus. But honestly you're right about the infrastructure part. Never been to Lisbon but I've heard the coworking spaces and internet are way more reliable there. Guess I just assumed Chiang Mai stayed relevant because people kept writing about it. Kinda changes my whole view on where to actually go next.
