Question about picking a base city versus full travel mode

I had to make a big choice last month between setting up a long term base in Medellin or keeping my stuff in storage and moving to a new country every 30 days. I picked the base city because I was tired of the constant visa runs and packing. It went okay for work focus, but I'm already feeling stuck after just 6 weeks. My rent is $850 a month for a nice apartment, but I miss the feeling of a new place. The local digital nomad cafe is great, but it's the SAME one every day. Has anyone else tried the 'base' method and then felt the itch to move again? What did you do?

Stayed in Chiang Mai for four months to finish a project and felt the exact same way. I mean, the routine was good for work but I started to hate seeing the same streets every day. What helped me was planning a bunch of short weekend trips to nearby towns, just to break it up. Maybe it's just me but having those little getaways booked made the base feel less like a trap. I kept the apartment but got out every other week, and it sort of scratched the travel itch without the full chaos of moving countries again.

Yeah, the weekend trip thing is key. I did that in Lisbon once, just taking the train to Sintra or the bus to Nazare. It wasn't even about the place being amazing, you know? It was more about the act of leaving, seeing a different train station, hearing a different accent. Coming back felt different, like my apartment was a home base and not just a box I was stuck in.
