TIL my old notebook full of cafe Wi-Fi passwords is a time capsule

I was sorting through my stuff and found a journal from when I first started working on the road. It was filled with scribbled addresses and passwords for cafes in Europe from like 2016. Honestly, back then, just getting online felt like a big task every new place I landed. I used to walk around for ages testing signals before I could even start my job. Now, I just grab a local SIM or walk into any coworking spot without a second thought. It really hit me how much smoother things are for nomads these days. What's something you used to struggle with that's way easier now?

Remember all those tangled universal plug adapters we used to haul around?

Wasn't the worst part just the panic in an airport? I had a cheap one with a frayed cord start smoking at a gate in Frankfurt. Little blue sparks and everything. A security guard had to come over with a fire extinguisher. The whole area smelled like burnt plastic for an hour. Really learned my lesson about buying the absolute cheapest adapter.

Ever have that moment where you're just staring at smoke in an airport? I just buy a single good adapter now and use a small power strip for all my stuff.
