inMy neighbor's garlic bread rule at barbecues is insane
That "taste test" idea from the_gray is solid... I had a cousin who drowned every salad in the same bottled dressing. I started putting it on the side and making a quick lemon vinaigrette as another option. People went for the new one, and after a few gatherings, she just quietly put the bottle away. Sometimes showing, not arguing, gets the point across.

inMy pasta experiment showed me salting the water is overrated
Dude I was totally in the same boat, I used to think it was a hard rule you couldn't skip. Then I tried it once on accident and the pasta was honestly still good. Yeah, you can tell a slight difference side by side, but if your sauce is flavorful it really does not matter that much. You're right, it's totally fine to skip it lol. Fair point, changed my mind too.
