Three years ago I placed ALL forks face up for a whole month and here's what happened
Last week my sister-in-law saw how I load my dishwasher and told me I was basically a criminal for mixing bowl types on the same rack, but back in October 2021 I tried doing every fork tines up and got stabbed twice grabbing a plate - is anyone else team tines down for safety or am I the weird one?

Ha! I once spent a whole weekend sorting forks by tine direction because my roommate swore the dishwasher cleaned better that way. Ended up stabbing myself twice and just ate with spoons for a week. Team tines down forever now.

lmfaooo "just ate with spoons for a week" is sending me. honestly though, team tines down is the only way to go. my roommate once tried to prove that tines up was better and a fork literally slid off the rack and landed tines first in my foot. i still have a tiny scar. spoons are too powerful though, you really committed to the bit.

Wait hold on, I've gotta back the tines up crowd here! Spoons are like the neutral party in a fork war, you know? They just sit there all innocent while forks are causing actual physical damage. But honestly, I've been on tines up for years and never had a single issue. The trick is to angle them so they lean against the back of the rack, not sticking straight out where they can fly off. Plus, think about it - when you grab a fork out of the drawer, your hand naturally goes to the handle anyway. So what's the big deal if the tines are pointing up in the dishwasher? Theyre going to be pointing up on your table too. Its the circle of fork life or something.
