My old way of patching drywall was just a glob of toothpaste

I used to think a quick smear of toothpaste would hide a small hole for a week, but it always turned yellow and crumbled. After my landlord in Austin saw my 'repair' and charged me $150, I bought a $5 patch kit and learned to use mesh tape. Anyone else have a terrible temporary fix that came back to bite them?

Genius short-term hack" is a nice way to say "future problem." That $150 lesson from your landlord is the real genius part, teaching you the value of a five dollar patch kit.
