Tried to fix a squeaky floor with baby powder, ended up with a powder bomb

I saw online that baby powder can stop floor squeaks by filling gaps. So I dumped a FULL bottle under a loose board in my hallway. Now every time someone steps on it, a cloud of powder puffs up like a cartoon. My kids think it's hilarious, but I'm sneezing for hours. Has anyone found a less messy way to quiet a squeaky floor?

Why not just lean into the chaos and call it a built-in air freshener? Your kids are already entertained, so you've got free comedy and a valid excuse to avoid stepping on that spot.

Wait, are you actually letting your kids play on a gross floor spot because it's funny? I get that kids are entertaining, but that spot sounds like a biohazard waiting to happen. Maybe I'm too strict, but I'd be scrubbing that thing until it's gone or blocking it off with furniture. You're really fine with them rolling around on a mystery stain that smells? That's a hard no for me. Kids get sick enough without us adding extra germs to the mix.
