Spent $80 on a fancy paint sprayer and ended up trashing my kitchen cabinets
I thought I'd save time by using a Wagner sprayer on my oak cabinets last weekend. What a disaster - the paint dripped everywhere and I got orange peel texture on every door. Now I'm spending Sunday sanding it all down by hand. Has anyone else had better luck with those things or is brush and roller just the way to go?

Watched my neighbor go through the exact same mess with his kitchen cabinets. He ended up stripping everything and doing it by hand with a foam roller. Said the sprayer was way more trouble than it was worth once he added up the time for thinning, cleaning, and fixing runs. I painted my own cabinets with a Purdy brush and a little foam roller for the flat parts. Took two days but zero sanding needed afterwards. Sometimes the old way is the faster way when you count all the headache.

Took me three tries and a lot of cuss words before I figured out how to dial in the Wagner. The trick is thinning the paint way more than you think you need to, and keep the sprayer moving at a steady speed. Also don't try to cover too much in one pass, that's where the drips come from. I did my bathroom vanity with an old Graco and it turned out smooth, but it took me a whole afternoon just to tape everything off. Brush and roller is definitely more forgiving especially if you're in a hurry.
