Used to think those cheap laser levels were a gimmick until I bought one for $25

Wanted to hang some cabinets in my garage and got tired of messing with a bubble level, so I grabbed one off Amazon and it got everything level on the first try. Has anyone else had a cheap tool surprise you actually works?

Buddy of mine bought a $20 laser level to hang shelves in his laundry room and spent two hours leveling them by eye. He finally broke down and used the laser, got all four shelves dead straight in under ten minutes. Now he calls it his "magic stick" and won't go near a bubble level.

Put a fresh battery in that magic stick every few months whether it needs it or not. Nothing worse than a laser that flickers out halfway through marking a long wall. That little $20 tool will save you more headache than any two bubble levels ever could.

Agree with @margaret_kelly55 on the battery thing, I learned that one the hard way. Last time I used a dying laser I was halfway through marking a kitchen tile layout and it started flickering like a firefly. Ended up with three crooked lines and a lot of cussing. Now I keep a stash of AAAs in my truck just for that little magic stick.
