I thought 3D modeling was just for show until I had to fix a real mess
For years I was sure 2D plans were enough for everything, and 3D was just extra fluff for presentations. Then I got a job redoing a factory floor in Toledo and the old 2D drawings had a major clash between a new duct run and a structural beam. My boss made me model it in SolidWorks, and seeing it in 3D showed the problem clear as day before we cut metal. It saved us from a two day rework. Anyone else switch from 2D purist to using 3D for clash detection?

Remember arguing with a plumber for an hour over a pipe fitting that "should" work. Pulled up the 3D model on my tablet right there in the crawl space, spun it around, and showed him the valve body was actually upside down in the old 2D detail. The look on his face... shut down the whole argument instantly.

But what if the 2D detail was right and your 3D model was wrong? Seen that happen before.

Get how that feels. I was the same way until a 3D model saved my butt on a site layout. It just makes the problems you can't see in flat drawings totally obvious.
