Overheard a Project Manager bragging about skipping redlines on a $600k job
I was grabbing coffee near the 14th street project office and heard a PM say he "signed off on prints without checking because the deadline was tight." That's how we ended up with a beam clash that cost 40 hours of rework. Has anyone else dealt with managers who push for speed over accuracy like this?

Used to think speed was always king, but seeing a 40 hour rework bill changes that fast. Skipping redlines to hit a deadline just pushes the problem down the road, making it cost more later. Now I'd rather push back on the schedule upfront than fix someone else's shortcuts.

Oh man @alice336 you're speaking my language... that 40 hour bill is the real teacher right there. Nothing like sitting there fixing someone's mess to make you rethink everything. I'd rather be the one saying "hey we need more time now" than the one cleaning up later. Seen too many projects where the first guy rushes it, then you're stuck redoing half of it anyway. Plus clients never remember the quick turnaround, they just remember the headache when it breaks.
