Spent $300 on a drafting arm for my table and I'm not sure it was worth it
I bought a Mayline Paragon drafting arm to replace my old T-square, thinking it would speed up my work on big floor plans. It's definitely more stable, but for the price, I expected a bigger jump in speed and I'm still reaching for my old tools for quick sketches. Has anyone else made a big gear buy that didn't quite pay off like you hoped?

Ugh, tell me about it. I once bought a fancy light box that just collects dust now.

Ever buy a fancy tool that just makes you feel dumb for spending the money? I got a pricey French curve I still can't use right...

My sister got me a fancy Japanese knife for my birthday last year. It's beautiful but I'm scared to use it because I know I'll mess up the edge. I totally get what @the_zara means about that French curve. Sometimes the best tools are the simple ones you already know how to use without thinking. That knife just sits in the block while I grab my old reliable one every single time.
