Showerthought: My worst week on the water was when the old cutterhead on the 'River Queen' finally gave out near Paducah. Do you guys run them until they fail or do scheduled swaps?

Running them until they fail just invites trouble. Scheduled swaps are the only way to avoid getting stuck.

Getting stuck" sounds about right for my luck. I once pushed a thing way past its limit and the breakdown was spectacularly bad timing. Now I'm a convert to your scheduled swap plan too.
