Always thought the cheap mud from the big box store was fine until a job in Boise
Used the standard stuff on a whole basement finish. Got more cracks in a month than I've seen in years. Switched to USG Plus 3 for the next one. Zero callbacks. Anyone else find the pricier mud actually saves money long term?

Switched to Plus 3 years ago and haven't had a single crack since.

My uncle had a rental property in Spokane where they used the cheap stuff on every wall. The repair bills from tenants over two years were more than just using good mud from the start. He still brings it up at every family cookout. It's one of those things you only learn the hard way.
