Just realized how bad the wiring is in that new coffee shop downtown

Walked into Brew & Grind on 4th street last week and noticed their outlets are all daisy-chained with those cheap 15-amp receptacles. Got me thinking about how often we overlook basic code compliance in older buildings getting a fresh coat of paint. Has anyone else spotted something sketchy in a local business and had to decide whether to say something?

Got me thinking" is doing a lot of heavy lifting there. It's just some daisy-chained outlets in a coffee shop, not a death trap. Plenty of old buildings have sketchy wiring and nobody bats an eye until they get a latte. Unless you saw exposed wires or sparks flying, it's probably fine. Code is code, but half the places in this town are running on 50 year old wiring and no one cares. You're overthinking a cup of coffee.

My buddy used to work at this diner that had an extension cord running from the kitchen all the way to the front counter for the register. They just taped it down with duct tape and called it a day. Nobody ever said a word about it until some health inspector came in for a burger and tripped on it. Ended up with a broken menu stand and a citation for unsafe wiring. So yeah, sometimes its just ugly but harmless, other times you get a surprise inspection and a fine.
