Had to pick between a new logic board or a full swap for a MacBook Air with a dead GPU

Customer brought in a 2017 MacBook Air with a failed integrated graphics chip. The choice was a $400 board pull from a donor machine or a $250 complete used unit from a local recycler. Went with the donor board because the customer's machine had a new battery and a perfect screen. It worked, but the whole job took about 3 hours. Anyone else faced a similar call on a machine where the main part costs more than a whole replacement?

Ever run into that with a phone repair?

Wait, "with a phone repair"? Like, they just left it inside the phone? That's wild.

Seen it more than you'd think. People forget the weirdest stuff in there. Found a folded up twenty once, tucked behind a battery. Makes you wonder what they're doing to their phones in the first place. Always a strange little surprise.
