A weirdly perfect Wednesday with a full book of 'problem skin' clients
Last Wednesday was one of those days that just clicked. My book was full, which is normal, but every single person who came in was dealing with some kind of reactive or sensitive skin situation. I had a client with perioral dermatitis, two with maskne flare-ups, one with a bad reaction to a new retinol, and a teen with cystic acne. Instead of feeling stressed, it felt like a master class in calming things down. I used the same basic approach for each one: a milky cleanser, a cool compress, a super simple honey and oat mask I mix fresh, and a lot of talking about barrier repair. By the end of the day, I was exhausted but weirdly happy. Seeing that immediate reduction in redness and having clients feel heard made it stand out. Has anyone else had a day where a specific skin issue type just dominated your schedule?

That honey and oat mask sounds like a lifesaver for reactive skin. Do you find yourself tweaking the base recipe at all for different issues, like adding a drop of something extra for the perioral dermatitis versus the cystic acne, or is keeping it exactly the same part of the calming magic?

Seriously, a full day of problem skin sounds more like a curse than a master class. Glad it worked out though.

Ever have one of those days where you're just the problem skin whisperer? Sounds like you found your groove. I get what xena_fox39 is asking about tweaking the recipe, but honestly, sometimes the magic is in not messing with it. It's like when I try to fix one squeaky floorboard and end up needing to redo the whole subfloor. Keeping it simple and consistent probably builds more trust with a client's freaked-out skin than throwing a bunch of new stuff at it. That basic routine you described sounds like a solid foundation, literally.
