So I did a 'gentle' enzyme peel on a client with rosacea

Her face got SO red and angry for like two full days, way worse than I expected. I learned the hard way that 'gentle' on the label doesn't mean gentle for every skin type. Anyone have a better calming protocol for reactive skin after a bad reaction?

Oh man, that "gentle on the label" thing got me too. I used to think if it was sold for sensitive skin, it was safe. Then I tried a "soothing" clay mask on my own rosacea and looked like a tomato for a day. Now I patch test everything on a small part of my cheek first, even the mild stuff. I keep a bottle of plain aloe vera gel in the fridge just for cooling down flares. It's the only thing that doesn't sting.

Yeah, I read that aloe can actually irritate some people.

Patch test on your cheek or behind your ear?
