Three clients this month showed up with burns from baking soda scrubs they learned on social media

One woman mixed it with vinegar thinking it would clean her pores, but her face was raw for days. I see this all the time now, people skipping professional advice for quick online tips. It's honestly making my job harder because I have to undo the damage first. We should be the first call, not the last resort after a DIY fail. This trend is bad for skin and bad for our trade.

That basic skin pH science lilyr25 mentioned is spot on. My friend tried a baking soda and lemon juice scrub from some video, and her cheeks got so burned they were peeling. I was just talking to @thomaspark about how scary these trends are. She ended up needing aloe vera gel and a week of no makeup to heal.

Look at how these hacks ignore basic skin pH science. Mixing baking soda with vinegar creates a harsh reaction that anyone with middle school chemistry should know. Now we have to teach adults what they missed in school before we can even treat them.

Never thought about it that way until @lilyr25 explained it!
