How I prevented my phone from listening in

Ads for travel deals came up after I mentioned a vacation. I turned off microphone permissions on most apps to stop this.

Seriously, this CREEPY ad targeting after conversations is becoming a NORMAL part of life.

Heard a podcast about this last week where they tested it. People left phones near TVs playing dog food commercials, and sure enough they started getting pet ads. Mine does the same thing with workout gear after I talk about running. Feels less like a coincidence every time it happens. Kinda makes you wonder what else is picking up conversations in the background.

You ever have it happen to someone you know? My buddy's mom was talking about needing new gardening gloves over tea, phone was just sitting on the table. Next day, her feed was full of ads for exactly that kind. She never searched for them once. It's those little things that make you get what @the_ryan is saying about it feeling so creepy now.
