Hot take: the whole 'mustard helps sunburn' thing is a lie my grandma told me

Last month I slathered mustard on a nasty sunburn after a day at Lake Tahoe and it just made me smell like a hot dog for 3 hours while my skin still peeled, has anyone else fallen for one of those old home remedies that just doesn't work?

Lmao did your grandma also tell you it had to be yellow mustard specifically? That's the part I can never figure out - like does Dijon work different or what.

Try it both ways and see what happens. Yellow mustard is milder and gives that classic tang without overpowering the meat. Dijon has more bite and a sharper flavor that can clash with the cheese. I usually stick with yellow for grilled cheese because it cuts through the grease without taking over. If you want to experiment, go for half the amount of Dijon. Just don't use honey mustard or you'll end up with something weird.

@simonp47 My grandma taught me everything I know about sandwiches and bad decisions.
