Had to pick between a new rasp and fixing my old anvil stand last week

The stand was wobbling bad, but I also needed a fresh rasp for a bunch of yearling trims. I spent the money on the steel to weld the stand solid, and it made the whole day's work feel so much safer and smoother. What's a recent tool or repair choice you had to make that paid off?

Honestly, that's a solid call. A wobbly anvil stand sounds like an accident waiting to happen. I'm curious, did you think about trying a quick temporary fix first, or was it so far gone you knew it needed the full weld right away? I feel like sometimes we put off the proper repair for too long.

Oh man, that reminds me of my buddy's old stand. He kept shimming it with wood scraps for months until the whole leg gave out mid swing. Sometimes a quick fix just lets a small problem get way worse.

Actually, I think you meant rasp for horse hooves, not woodworking.
