I used to think hot fitting was a waste of time for most horses

For years, I'd only do it for the really tough cases, like a draft horse with a bad flare. Then I worked on a Quarter Horse in Cheyenne with persistent heel soreness, and the owner insisted we try it. We hot fit a set of handmade shoes, and the relief was almost instant. Has anyone else had a simple change like that fix a long-running issue?

Wait, is the soreness really that bad if it only got fixed by hot fitting? Maybe the regular shoes were just a bad fit.

Yeah, a bad fit can totally mess you up. Hot fitting just shows how off the regular sizing was, like your feet were fighting the shoe the whole time.

Hot fitting can make a huge difference if your regular shoes are even a little off. I had arch pain for months that went away after a proper fitting showed my shoes were too narrow. The soreness builds up slowly, so you don't always notice how bad it is until you try something that actually fits right.
