Took me 3 years to realize I'd been nipping with the wrong side of my nippers

Was trimming an old thoroughbred last Tuesday and the farrier next to me pointed out my bevel was facing inward, no wonder I'd been struggling with cracked hooves. Has anyone else had that lightbulb moment where you realize you've been doing a basic step backwards the whole time?

Had you ever noticed the bevel wasn't sitting right before that farrier pointed it out? I'm just curious because sometimes it's something like a weird angle that you get used to over time. Did the cracked hooves get better after you flipped the nippers around? Three years is a long time to be fighting the tool instead of letting it work for you.

@finleyw99 thats wild. Did you just never check the bevel in three years?

Did you ever just grab the wrong tool out of habit without checking it first?
