Took me 45 minutes to pull a single shoe because I forgot my nippers

I was out at a barn in Lexington last Thursday and realized I left my nippers in the truck. Had to drive back 20 minutes round trip while the horse stood there looking at me. Anyone else forget a basic tool and waste half a morning?

Oh man, the "forgot my nippers" pain is real (I've done that exact thing). I once spent 25 minutes looking for my hoof pick before realizing it was in my back pocket the whole time. The horse just stood there, one leg up, looking at me like I was the dumbest human alive. Had to laugh at myself, then walk back to the truck again. At least your horse was patient, mine started stomping and I nearly lost my chance to get the shoe off clean.

Why would you drive all the way back for nippers? You could've wedged the shoe off with a rock or found a piece of scrap metal in the barn. Farriers do it with minimal tools all the time when they're in a pinch. My old boss used to pop shoes off with a rusty horseshoe he found in the field. Maybe the real waste of time was not looking around first instead of running back to the truck.
