Denim jacket buttons snapped off after 3 wears

Bought this raw denim jacket from a small maker in Portland last month and the buttons started popping off by the third time I wore it. I ended up having to resew all five of them with copper rivets from the hardware store. Has anyone else dealt with cheap fasteners ruining an otherwise solid piece?

yeah that tracks honestly. it feels like everything these days is made to look old school but then the actual hardware is just cheap stamped junk. i've been noticing the same thing with zippers on jackets and even backpack buckles. you pay for the "craft" but the little stuff like snaps and buttons is where they cut corners.

Hear me out though, I actually think the opposite is happening. Some of those newer brands are using solid brass or real metal parts where the old timers used plastic or pot metal that would snap. I picked up a "heritage" style duffel last year and the rivets and zipper pull are way thicker than anything my dad's old canvas bag had. Plus, at the warehouse we process returns on this stuff all the time, and the cheap junk from ten years ago is just crumbling. The hardware might look simpler these days but at least it holds up to real use.

oh come on, you're telling me that cheap stamped junk is better than the old pot metal stuff? i've had two "heritage" bags where the rivets popped right off within a few months. at least the old stuff would hold together long enough to look worn in, this new stuff just falls apart before it even gets any character.
