That $200 'professional' decluttering session wrecked my garage sale profit
Paid a guy 200 bucks to help me sort stuff for a fast cash sale and he threw out a vintage lamp I later learned was worth 400. Has anyone else had a 'helper' actually cost you money instead of making it?

Blame @margaret304 all you want but paying 200 bucks should get you someone who doesn't toss a lamp without asking first. Quick buck or not, basic decency means checking with the owner before trashing stuff. That's just pure lack of common sense right there, not your fault for assuming theyd have it.

And honestly you kinda got what you asked for. You hired someone to sort and declutter, not to appraise every single item. A lamp looks old and dusty to most people. You can't blame the guy for treating it like junk when you were trying to make a quick buck yourself. That's on you for not checking the value of your own stuff first. Next time maybe spend 20 minutes on Google before dropping 200 on a helper.

Dude they paid 200 bucks not 20, that kind of cash should cover at least a little common sense.
