The day I learned I'd been eating my chicken nuggets wrong for 30 years
Last Tuesday at the drive-thru, I got a 10-piece nugget box and my usual two sauces. My buddy in the passenger seat watched me dip a nugget, take a bite, then dip the same nugget again. He just stared and said, 'You know you're double-dipping your own food, right? That's gross even for you.' I never thought about it, but I've been doing that my whole life, contaminating my own sauce with half-eaten chicken. I felt like a total fool. Has anyone else had a weird fast food habit they didn't realize was wrong until someone pointed it out?

The real problem is you're wasting sauce. Every time you pull a half eaten nugget out, you leave a bunch of sauce stuck to it that just gets eaten. That's less sauce for the next dip. You're basically paying for sauce you never get to use. I started doing one dip per bite and my sauce cup lasts way longer now.

Actually saw a whole thread about this on Reddit. People were divided on whether double dipping your own sauce is a real issue. Honestly it's your germs so who cares.

Admit I'm a total double dipper but Oscar has a point about wasting sauce. My chewed-up nugget does leave a bunch behind in the cup. Maybe I should just lick the sauce off instead, would that be better or worse?

But come on, it's just gross. You're putting chewed food back into the shared sauce cup. Even if you're the only one eating it, that sauce gets all watery and full of little bits. Next thing you know, you're dipping a fresh nugget into what is basically chicken backwash. It's a texture crime. I'd rather just pour a little sauce on each bite and keep it clean.
