The time a fast food burger cost me more than a steak dinner
About three years ago, I was driving through Boise and stopped at a well known burger chain for a quick bite. I ordered their new 'double deluxe' with bacon and a shake, which came to just over $18. When I got the bag, the burger was a total mess. The bottom bun was soaked through with grease and fell apart in my hand before I could even take a bite. The bacon was cold and rubbery, like it had been sitting out for hours. The shake was so thick the straw just bent, and it tasted like plain ice milk. I ended up throwing most of it away and just felt ripped off. For that price, I could have gotten a decent sit-down meal. Has anyone else had a simple burger order go that wrong for that much cash?

Wait, eighteen dollars? I mean for a burger and a shake, that's just crazy. I'd be so mad if it fell apart like that too.

Yeah that price is wild, @brooke520. It reminds me of the time I paid like sixteen bucks for a fancy grilled cheese at some food truck, and the cheese wasn't even melted all the way. I mean you just sit there staring at it feeling kinda ripped off. Idk maybe it's just me but when a simple thing costs that much you expect it to be perfect, and it almost never is.

Remember when a cheap burger was just a cheap burger? I used to think paying more meant you got something solid, but man was I wrong. Now it feels like they charge you extra just for the fancy wrapper and the whole thing falls apart in your hands. Eighteen bucks should get you a meal that actually holds together, not a mess on your lap. That price tag makes the disappointment hit so much harder.
