Bought a $300 post hole digger attachment that snapped on the third job
I thought it would save time on a big residential project in Charlotte, but the weld on the main arm gave out completely. Has anyone found a brand that actually holds up to rocky soil?

Oh man, that's the worst feeling. Had the same thing happen with a cheaper one a few years back, just folded like a cheap lawn chair in some hard clay. You really do get what you pay for sometimes, but even the mid-range stuff can be a gamble. Ended up borrowing a friend's old Danuser model that was built like a tank, so maybe look for something used but heavy duty? That rocky Carolina soil is no joke.

Actually had the opposite experience, @simon_coleman. My mid-range King Kutter has been through pure North Carolina rock for five seasons now with zero issues. Sometimes it's less about the price tag and more about how you use it, like not forcing it when you hit a big stone.
