Just realized I used to set all my post holes by hand with a level, but after a job in Charleston where the ground sloped like crazy, I bought a laser level and now I can't imagine going back.
I mean, that laser was like $150, but it saved me probably 2 hours on that one install alone, so what's your go-to tool that you wish you'd bought sooner?

Honestly, a good old string line beats a laser for me.

My grandpa taught me to set fence posts with a string line back in '98. Eric_murray26 is right that you feel the work more that way. I still use that method for rough grading every single time.
