My whole batch of kimchi exploded in the fridge at 3 AM
I was in my apartment kitchen and heard this loud pop. The jar lid blew off and red cabbage juice sprayed everywhere, even on the ceiling. What's the best way to clean fermented chili paste off a white fridge door?

Oh man, "sprayed everywhere, even on the ceiling" is a whole mood. That's a brutal way to be woken up. For the fridge door, start with a damp cloth and some dish soap, the basic blue kind. If that red stain sticks, a little baking soda paste usually works without hurting the finish.

Check if the chili paste got into the fridge door's rubber seal. That gunk hides in the creases and can mold if you don't clean it out. Use an old toothbrush with some vinegar water to scrub the seal, then wipe it dry. Leaving it wet will just make the problem come back later.

But how do you get the smell out once it's been there a while? Vinegar might clean it but that chili odor can really linger.
