TIL my whole dish soap strategy was backwards for 20 years
I always squirted soap directly on the sponge until a buddy who works at a restaurant supply store told me to put it in the sink first and let the water hit it. Tried it with my Dawn last Wednesday and went through a whole bottle in half the time. Am I the only one who had to unlearn this?

I read somewhere the sink method is better for the environment though.

My friend Sarah did the same thing with her Palmolive last month, ended up with enough suds to wash a whole restaurant kitchen and her hands were weirdly dried out for days. She's back to squirting directly on the sponge now, says the sink method is a scam.

Oh wow, that actually makes a lot of sense about the dried out hands thing. I used to be all about filling the sink with soapy water, thought it was the only way to get dishes clean. But hearing about your friend's experience, yeah, I can see how that would strip all the moisture right out of your skin. I'm starting to think the squirt-on-the-sponge method might be the smarter move after all. You can always add more soap if you need it, right?
