Lilies closing up too fast after I make bouquets
I read that a little sugar in the water can help. Do you have other tricks to keep them open longer?

Trimming the stems underwater helped my lilies stay open longer.

My florist in Brooklyn always recommends a 45-degree cut underwater. She says it stops air bubbles from blocking the water uptake, which makes total sense. Have you ever tried using warm water with a spoon of sugar for them too? I found that combo keeps the blooms looking fresh for days longer. Why is this kind of basic care not common knowledge yet?

Oh nice, that underwater trick is solid. I started using warm water with a bit of sugar too, and it really does help them last.
