Pro tip: Switching to lukewarm water fixed my quick-wilting lilies
I had a big issue with lilies in funeral arrangements wilting too fast, which was really upsetting for families. Before, I used cold water straight from the tap and figured that was just how lilies were. After talking to another florist, I learned water temperature can change how flowers drink. I tested it by putting some lilies in lukewarm water and others in cold, both with flower food. The lukewarm batch stayed firm and bright for over a week, while the cold ones sagged in just a few days. Now I always fill vases with lukewarm water and see a huge improvement. It costs nothing to try and makes a real difference for sensitive flowers like lilies. My clients have noticed and it's helped build trust in my service.

Always thought colder water was better for flowers. Seeing your test results makes me reconsider my own routine. I'm going to try lukewarm water next time I buy lilies.

Turns out I’ve been accidentally killing flowers with cold water for years, whoops.
