I finally went to that new ramen spot in Portland and the broth tasted like sweet tea

The place had a line out the door and everyone was raving about the tonkotsu. I got a bowl and took a big sip. It was weirdly sweet, like someone had mixed it with iced tea. I asked the server about it and she just shrugged and said 'that's our style.' I paid $18 for a bowl of confused soup. Has anyone else had a broth that tasted totally wrong?

Actually loved that place, the sweet note in the broth was a cool twist for me.

Yeah that sweet broth was a game changer. Totally made the whole dish. Need more places to try stuff like that.
