i actually looked into this after a friend sent me some weird article and now i cant look at my favorite protein bars the same way lol. apparently beaver castoreum is used as a raspberry or vanilla flavor in some junk food and booze which is honestly kind of metal but also gross. ive probably eaten like 50 pounds of that stuff by accident without knowing. my body is basically 30% beaver butt flavoring at this point and i dont know how to feel about it.

Ngl that's a wild way to find out you've basically been eating beaver juice this whole time. Honestly though, I looked into this years ago and it's way less common than people think now. Like most big brands switched to cheaper synthetic stuff because castoreum is expensive and hard to get. But still, the fact that it's even legal to put in food is kind of hilarious and messed up at the same time. Tbh your body is definitely not 30% beaver butt but the thought alone is gonna haunt me next time I grab a vanilla protein bar.
