Noticed something weird about 'no added sugar' jam at the store last week
I was buying jam in Portland and grabbed one that said 'no added sugar' right on the front. When I flipped it over, the second ingredient was white grape juice concentrate. I looked it up later and that's basically just sugar with extra steps, lol. It feels like they're just using a different name to trick you. Has anyone else found a food that hides sugar like this?

Yeah, I ran into that with yogurt. Picked up a vanilla one that said "no sugar added" but the ingredients listed "evaporated cane juice crystals." Did some digging and it's just fancy talk for sugar. Now I just check the back for words ending in "syrup" or "concentrate" first. What's the weirdest sugar alias you've found?

Honestly thought "fruit juice concentrate" was healthy until reading the label.

Is white grape juice concentrate really that different from regular sugar though? @parkerp80 has a good point about checking for syrup and concentrate, I do the same now after getting tricked by that "evaporated cane juice" in some organic granola bars.
