My brother-in-law told me to salt my pasta water like the sea, not like a soup

He said 'if it doesn't taste like seawater, it's not enough' and my spaghetti has been way better ever since. Anyone else have a simple tip that actually worked?

Wait, why did no one tell me this sooner?

Right? It's like a secret club nobody lets you into. I did the same thing for years, scared of over-salting, and my food was just sad. Someone finally told me to salt the water until it tastes like the sea (sounds wild, I know) and it made all the difference. The pasta itself is actually good now, even before any sauce hits it.

Totally get that. I used to barely add any salt and wondered why my pasta tasted bland. Started going way heavier with the kosher salt, and it's a complete game changer. The pasta actually has flavor now, not just sauce flavor.
