Our scrap rate dropped from 8% to under 2% in six months after switching to a new sand binder

The foreman pushed for the change after a demo, and the cores just hold their shape way better now. Anyone else seen a big shift from something that seemed like a small process tweak?

Was it just the binder chemistry or did you tweak the mixing time or sand temperature too? We had a similar drop once but it turned out we were also running the mixer hotter without realizing it. Seems like those small details make or break the whole process.

Honestly I used to think binder changes were just paperwork until ours cut scrap by five percent.

My buddy at the plant laughed when they updated their binder. Called it a waste of time. Two months later his team's rework rate dropped off a cliff. He had to eat his words. Turns out the new specs were way clearer.
