I used to think peel and stick was just a renter's quick fix too, but after putting Smart Tiles in my own laundry room last year I've totally changed my tune. Good point from @paigep20 about checking the warranty, I made sure mine said it was rated for laundry rooms before I bought it.

James, you make a good point about how that kind of rule just shuts people down. Take a comedian like Dave Chappelle or even someone like Jerry Seinfeld - their old material from the 90s would get roasted today, but back then it was just part of the culture. People change, and the world changes with them. The thing is, if we treat every bad joke or old comment like a life sentence, nobody feels safe to admit they were wrong or learn from it. It's like punishing someone for a parking ticket the same way you would for a DUI - there's a big difference in scale and intent. @jamesf26, you're right that this approach kills any real chance for growth and conversation.

Oh man, tell me about it. I was on a JLG last month and skimmed the chart thinking I was good. Wound up overextended by a foot on a slope. Had to crab-walk the whole thing back down while the super was yelling from the ground. Lesson learned - now I take a picture of the chart with my phone before I even climb in.

Got one of those cheap units too. Ran it for a weekend and pulled out way more water than I expected. The air felt lighter and less sticky. Basement smelled clean for the first time in years. Sometimes the budget stuff really works.
