Looking back at my first digital art tablet purchase
I bought a high-end drawing tablet about eight years ago, thinking I needed the best to start. It cost me nearly $800, which was a lot for me back then. I spent more time figuring out the complex software and settings than I did actually drawing. I ended up feeling overwhelmed and the tablet mostly gathered dust. Has anyone else started with gear that was too advanced and regretted the cost?

Wait, so fisher.adam thinks that's a good way to learn?

Honestly, you might have had it backwards. Tbh starting with the best gear sets a high bar and forces you to learn the real tools from day one. Ngl, that upfront cost can be a huge push to actually use the thing and get your money's worth. Settling for cheaper stuff first can just waste time and money when you upgrade later anyway.

Totally feel that, @fisher.adam. I did the same with my first real camera, skipped the beginner stuff. You just learn faster when you're forced to figure out the good gear right away.
