My first boss insisted on overnight drying, and he was right.

Back then, we used oil-based varnish that truly needed a full day between coats. I'd clock out and come back the next morning to check if it was ready. That waiting taught me to plan each step without rushing. Now, with quick-dry products, jobs fly by, but I see more redos. I finished an oak table last month in two days, but it already has scratches. Do you miss the slower pace that built better furniture?

Isn't it a bummer that quick dry leads to scratches?

Tell me about it, that scratchy texture drives me nuts. I keep trying to fix tiny mistakes before the layer sets and just end up making more marks. My last project looked like a cat tried to help, all because I got impatient. Definitely learning the hard way to just let the stuff dry.

Think about how quick-dry paints harden too quickly. They don't have time to settle, so every stroke leaves a mark. It's frustrating when you want a clean look.
